September 11, 2006 - The National Pacific Islander Educator Network (NPIEN) announces its fifth annual NPIEN Education Conference, to be held Saturday November 18, 2006, 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Cabrillo High School, 2001 Santa Fe Avenue, Long Beach, California, 90810.

The conference will feature workshops for students grades K-12, parents, teachers, and community members on topics such as Financial Aid, College & Career, Student Discussion Forums, Innovative Teaching Strategies, Higher Education Forum, Arts, Crafts, Ukelele, & Polynesian Dance.

An awards luncheon will recognize outstanding students, educators, and community members for their contributions to the Pacific Islander community.

Current sponsors include the National Education Association, California Teachers Association, Heritage Family Pantry, the Souplantation, and the Office of Samoan Affairs.
