Hi 5 to Chamolindian and to Ronnie boy the anti-Chamorro. You two remind me of how the Spaniards and the Gupalaos teamed up to get Chamorros out of Saipan and have Chamorro land stolen by the gupalaos. Guess what kids. Chamorros will always be the original and only indigenous people of the Chamorro Islands. Sa Hafa? Sa Chamorro yu brat ya ti manyao yu bradda! Sorry to all you Chamorro Wannabes who wish to be the indigenous people. Metgotna si Taga ki si Aghurub.

Latte Warrior, which I doubt you really are....

First of all, I'm Chamorro! I'm 100% Chamorro, as far as I know. In case you didn't know, Muna is a Chamorro last name! I was born on Guam, but my whole family is from Saipan.

About this whole owning land ordeal:
Guam is totally under U.S. control, therefore anyone who is U.S. citizen can own land, including people from Saipan, of course. In case you didn't know... The CNMI is not fully under U.S. control, it's a commonwealth and therefore it may make it's own laws, especially about land. Since the law says that you have to be of CNMI descent in order to own land, then that's exactly what it means. It doesn't state that you have to be Chamorro to own land! Guam is a big island and I'm sure if everyone on Guam fights for what they really want, then they'll get it. It's a tough world, isn't it?

Ahe' ti Gupalao yu'! Ya hafa kumu Gupalao yu'? Basta bumanidosu put guaha tano'-mu. Ti hagu ha' gai tano'!

No way should Guamanians be free to purchase land anywhere in the Marianas. Pretty soon the islands would be owned by a bunch of Howlies or Japanese businessmen who would exploit the Hell out of it. But, ANY CHAMORRO (50% or more, Guamanian or not) should be allowed to purchase a HOME and EVERYONE should have to promise not to longterm lease for hotels, casinos, etc

Lets take this issue to our Congressman and to our Legistlatures. Guamanians should be free to purchase land anywhere in the Marianas. I agree, if the Saipanese can purchase land on Guam, then the Guamanians should be allowed to purchase a piece of Saipan. Go Islanders; speak up!!!!!!!

Ronnie boy,
It is the most stupid law ever made in the history of the Chamorros. Chamorros from Guam have all the rights in the world to own land on Saipan. If Chamorros from Guam aren't allowed to own land in the Northern Chamorro Islands then Chamorros from Saipan should not be allowed to own land on Guam either. That should be fair. I own land on all the islands. Thats how it should be for all Chamorros. You must not be Chamorro. Thats why you like this law right? Fanan Gupalao hao no boboy?

This is for Lattel Warrior:
I made a reply to your entry in the forum about the Carolinians owning land in the CNMI. It isn't a stupid law, it's meant to give land to it's people, Carolinians included. Guamanians are not people of the CNMI, they are the people of Guam! Only Carolinians from the CNMI can own land there, not the Carolinians from Satawal, so rest your case already, I DO!

Ron - Vancouver, WA USA

Why can gupalaos own land in the Northern Marianas but Chamorros from Guam cannot own land in the Northern Marianas? Thats nonsense. Gupalaos are not even natives to the Marianas. They are from Satawal. Tano Chamorro este diablo!! All the islands in the Marianas is Chamorro land!! Debi ta tulaika este na stupid law!!

Never give up on reuniting the islands again. It is very stupid how the islands are seperated. The outsiders caused this to happen in the first place when Chamorros were relocated to Guam. All the Marianas Islands are Chamorro Land to begin with. We were there first and nobody could ever change that. We are breathe, eat and live the Chamorro way. I lived on both places too so don't say that everyone is not in favor of reuniting because I have met many that still have the Chamorro spirit che'lu. Hita y Taotao tano. Biba Tano Chamorro!!

Latte Soldier - Chamorro Islands
Monday, May 13, 2002 at 14:16 (EDT)

This is in regards to Latte Soldier's recommendation on how to spell "Chamorro". You can't spell it this way: Tsamoru, because you can't combine "ts" to make a "ch". I dont remember ever seeing "ts" being put together. I agree that the "ru" should be put at the end, but then it hasn't been spelled that way until recently and you can't just suggest to change a spelling.
Same thing when it comes to changing the name of these islands. Guam and CNMI will never get along in terms of people. No matter how much someone will tell you that it would work, it won't! I've lived in both places long enough to know how each talk about one another. It's a sad fact and we just have to deal with being seperate. Guam and the CNMI have always been separate ever since the 16th century and it would take a long time to change that. We may be united in the "heart" but never politically.
And yes, I am big on spelling. It really irritates me when our people can't even spell in their own language and then say that they have a master's in English from UCLA...it's really sad...
